The curriculum at the Aspire Academy promotes the intellectual, personal, social and physical development of all our pupils. It consists of the National Curriculum where appropriate, Personal, Social, Health and Moral Education and some Religious Education as well as cross-curricular themes through learning outside the classroom and key skills. The curriculum aims to develop each pupil’s character and support spiritual, moral, social and cultural development. Extra-curricular activities are also offered to form part of the curriculum both during the school week and in holiday time through the Beyond Aspire programme.
Our aim is to create opportunities for pupils to be successful and develop a positive self-image. The individual is highly valued and respected at The Aspire Academy.
A key part of being successful is being fully prepared for the word of work. Employability qualifications are delivered and employability skills are developed through our Careers Strategy.

Curriculum content:
At Key Stage 3 pupils will access: English, Maths, Science, Geography, RE, Citizenship, Art, ICT, PSHE, Physical Education and Food and Cookery. KS3 pupils will also access learning outside the classroom with Wellbeing sessions and Vocational Education choosing from termly options of Construction, Motor Vehicle Maintenance, Hair & Beauty, MMA and Sport & Fitness.
At Key Stage 4 pupils work towards GCSE accreditation in: English Language, English Literature, Maths, Science (Physics), Geography and Business Studies. In addition, they study Mental Health Awareness, PSHE and Physical Education. There are also opportunities to gain Functional Skills qualifications in English, Maths and ICT. KS4 pupils also access Vocational Education with choices in BTEC Home Cooking Skills & NCFE/CACHE Health & Nutrition, NCFE Caring for Children, BTEC Art, BTEC Construction, NOCN Motor Vehicle Maintenance, Hair & Beauty, Health & Social Care, Kickboxing, Land-Based Studies, MMA, Sports Fitness and STEM Project. Career related opportunities also exist for extended Work Experience placements, employability sessions in terms of CV preparation, interview skills and employer showcases and meetings. Bespoke learning can occur through focussed employability support, 1:2:1 or small group Outreach Education sessions as well as CAIG support from commissioning schools.
