The Worcester Warriors Foundation: Engaging and inspiring our community through the power of sport

Worcester Warriors Foundation is proud to be at the heart of the local community. As a charity, they care about the wellbeing of all participants who they engage with through their diverse range of initiatives which aim to connect, inspire and support.

Every Monday a group of young people visit the wellbeing café. The cafe supports the mental health of vulnerable members of the community through fun activities which promote social connection.

We have our own Educational Psychologist, Vicky De Cloedt, who visits school regularly and works with staff, young people and their families to ensure that school is meeting a range of needs.

WMRSASC works with children and young people, aged between 5-18 years, who have been directly or indirectly impacted by sexual abuse. Their Purple Leaf education program is delivered to small groups of young people at school throughout the academic year. This encourages pupils to develop healthy relationships with support their mental health and wellbeing.

Worcestershire Cranstoun Here4YOUth visits young people in school to offer advice, support and guidance with their own or someone else’s drug or alcohol misuse. The wonderful team of workers meet with young people on a one-to-one basis but also run drop-in sessions regularly on Tuesday mornings.

Longlands is the vision of Julia Evans, its founder and CEO. Over a decade of operation she has been widely recognised as an extraordinary practitioner. Set at the heart of a large organic livestock farm in the beautiful countryside of the Herefordshire and Worcestershire borders, Longlands  provides mentoring and specialist mental health support to several of our young people on a weekly basis.

Child & Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS)

CAMHS is the name for the NHS services that assess and treat young people with emotional and mental health difficulties. In recent years, emotional and mental health problems among adolescents have been on the rise. Some of these include anxiety, low mood and stress.  Sleeping is another major problem reported by young people in the last years.

We make referrals to the CAMHS Single Point of Access which triages referrals and assigns young people to a level of support which is most helpful to them. We also make referral to the CAMHS Reach4Wellbeing Service for young people who feel they may benefit from group therapy.

CAMHS WEST This is a relatively new early intervention service integrated in education settings to promote children and young people’s emotional wellbeing, keeping the child’s voice at the heart. From September 2024 we will welcome Amanda Bennet as our assigned Education Mental Health Practitioner (trainee) and Anne Campion as our Senior Practitioner. Both Amanda and Anne will work closely with Zoe Kingston (Designated Mental Health Lead) and members of the SLT to continue to improve our whole school approach to Mental Health and Wellbeing as well as provide targeted support to some young people
