Pupils accessing the Construction/Woodwork programme here at The Aspire Academy will work with our specialist tutor Holly Gill who has many years of experience within the carpentry, woodwork and construction industry.
Course Outcomes
- Pupils will be able to work safely in a controlled workshop environment.
- Pupils will be able to complete basic woodwork skills.
- Pupils will design and make some basic wooden items.
- Pupils will gain a basic understanding of woodwork.
In addition to improving their skills and techniques in Woodwork our pupils will also achieve a range of AQA Unit Awards (see details also below).
KS4 Woodwork AQA Unit Awards, Autumn Term Programme:
- Design Technology workshop health and safety
- Marking out a square section of wood
- Basic woodwork
- Positive engagement in a woodwork project
- Designing and making a wooden storage box
- Making a wooden planter
- Correct use of a range of woodwork shop tools
- Designing and making a wooden Christmas decoration
- Safe us of a pillar drill or bench drill
- The correct and safe use of an electric powered scroll saw
- Using a disc sander
- Woodwork (Unit 2)
KS3 Woodwork AQA Unit Awards, Autumn Term Programme:
