The Role of Governors
School governors are people who want to make a positive contribution to children’s education. Governors are one of the largest volunteer forces in the country and have an important part to play in raising school standards. The role of the governing board is absolutely key to the effectiveness of a school.
Governors support the school through support and challenge and also help set the vision and strategic direction of the school; hold the Head Teacher to account over the School’s performance and monitor the Teaching and Learning within the school.
What makes a good school Governor?
Anyone who has a child on the roll of the school at the time of the election is eligible to stand (and you do not have to resign if your child leaves during your term of office).
If you do wish to put yourself forward then you need to complete a nomination form, which is available on the school website, or which can be collected from the school office (We can help you complete it in school if needed). You can nominate yourself but you will need to get someone else to add their name to your nomination and they cannot be a close relative or partner.
Nomination forms must be returned to the school by Noon on Monday 3rd July 2017.
If there are more than one candidate, an election will be held. More details will follow on this if required.
