Another Aspire Plus holiday programme has been and gone, and what a two weeks it’s been!! There was no way we were going to let the bad weather get the better of us!!
As is tradition, in the first week of the Easter holidays, we started with two days of motor vehicle mechanics with our ‘master’ resident mechanic Matt Logan. Our conversion of a Rover 45 into a Delorean (from the iconic 1980s Back to the Future movie) is now complete and is ready to be placed in pride of place on top of our motor vehicle classroom.
On the Wednesday we all jumped in the people carriers and made our way to Drayton Manor Park & Zoo to enjoy a day in the sunshine – and we returned home with one more passenger, in the form of Ernie the Rabbit!!
In week two we returned to the Black Country Living Museum to see what life would have been like for our students if they had been born a hundred years ago – it appears they would have been have been fine working in a mine but the lack of phone signal down there would have been a real problem!!
Wednesday was a cold, wet and dark day so we decided to go to …… the beach. We had a wonderful day in Weston-Super-Mare and despite the weather it was lovely to take a walk on the beach.
It has been a great two weeks with some really fantastic and committed students. Plans are now under way for May half term and then the big one! Our summer holiday programme, which will be finalised soon, so keep an eye out to find out what we are going to be up to.
